  • CONSOLIDATION OF HOLDING (AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT)

    • The implementation of Assam Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1960 has been kept in abeyance as all the cultivation tenants were not recorded tenants. The Tenants' Record of Right operation in most of the district are completed.
    • Accordingly a detailed Scheme has since been sumitted to the Govt. in consultation with the visiting World Bank Team Official Shri A. Venkataraman. Initially, the works of consolidation of Holdings was proposed to be started in Chaygaon, Boko, Sonapur and Kamalpur Circle of Kamrup District of Assam. The works of consolidation is done as per provision of Assam Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1960.
    • The Scheme aimed at consolidating fragmented land holdings in 15 villages of four Revenue Circles of Kamrup District in a period of three years at a cost of Rs. 10.48 million in pursuance of the State Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1960. It also introduced integrated land use planning and better use of common natural resourses through people's participation leading to economic gains and a better quality of life. 10657 Land Holders operating in a geographical area of 3354 hect. got the benefit. This was a Pilot Project.
