The Government Land Policy of January/1968 and September/1989 encouraged Gramdan and Bhoodan movement in the State. Provision under Section 6 of the Assam Bhoodan Act, 1965 empowers the State Government to constitute the State Bhoodan Board, a body corporate with perpetual succession, to accept, regularize and distribute land received as Bhoodan. Consequent upon the enactment of the Assam Gramdan (Amendment) Act, 1978, the Board was redesigned as the Assam Bhoodan Gramdan Board. The following voluntary organizations are represented in the Assam Bhoodan Gramdan Board:-
The present Assam Bhoodan Gramdan Board is constituted vide Govt Notification No. RRG.74/2002/62 dated 29th July, 2015 comprising of the following members:-
